In our 34th week...

He weighs about 5 pounds and measures about 17.2 to 18.7 inches (although Clinton is probably bigger than this!). And he may grow up to a full inch this week -- amazing. And from this week, until two weeks before birth, he will gain about a half-pound of weight every week.
The bones in his skull are formed, but aren’t fused. They actually don’t fuse entirely until early adulthood, allowing room for his brain to grow throughout childhood. Because they aren’t fused, the bones in his skull will be able to overlap, helping him to fit through the birth canal during delivery.

Other fun facts:
  • He's keeping his eyes open while awake.
  • He's also starting to coordinate breathing with sucking and swallowing.
  • His bones are hardening.
  • And he going through (more) major brain development -- that's one smart baby!

Ultrasound Update

We had a great ultrasound yesterday!  Clinton measured bigger than what they had originally thought, but we don't know yet if the doctor will change our original due date or not.  Our next appointment with her is September 3rd, and we should find out more then.  Our current due date is October 12th, but he is averaging an October 2nd due date with his current measurements.

Clinton is healthy and weighs approximately 4lb 13oz!  It's hard to be exact on the weight, but he should be either right under or right above that amount.  He is head down, which is great considering he is almost too big to turn anymore!

We had a nice surprise at the end of the ultrasound when the tech turned on 3D and captured a few shots of our little man's sweet face.  This is the first time we've seen his face and we both immediately said 'Awww he is SO cute!'  We think he has my nose and his daddy's cheeks and chin.

We can't wait to meet him and introduce him to all of you.  We'll keep you posted!

Ultrasound

Tomorrow is a big day for us!  We get to see Clinton on an ultrasound!

Every visit that I've had at the doctor since about 24 weeks, she has measured my belly.  Usually this measurement corresponds to the number of weeks you are.  For example, at 24 weeks I should measure 24 centimeters.  Well, we have always measured 2 centimeters bigger and at 24 weeks I was measuring 26 weeks.  Since that time we have remained consistent always measuring 2 weeks ahead.  The doctor had mentioned doing another ultrasound (you would normally only have two ultrasounds the entire pregnancy - one at the beginning and one in the middle at around 20 weeks), but wanted to wait until closer to my due date of October 12th to gauge how big he was.

At my 32 week appointment this past Friday, the measurement jumped up to 4 weeks ahead!  This means that my belly is measuring at 36 centimeters or 36 weeks.  So we get to see our little guy tomorrow!    The doctor does not seemed concerned, but we just want to see how big he really is at this point.

As some of you know, the hubs was 9lb 8 1/2oz when he was born, so this comes as no surprise to us.  We are excited to see him, but also a little anxious as this could potentially move our due date up a bit.  Would you say a prayer for us?  For peace, guidance, and comfort knowing that God is all knowing and has everything all worked out.

Our next doctor's appointment isn't until September 3rd, so we may not know anything until then, but we will keep you updated if we hear anything.
